November 11, 2015 is Veteran’s Day, a day set aside to honor the men and women throughout the years who have bravely fought for the rights and freedom of the American people. According to the Servicemember’s Civil Relief Act (SCRA), any active Servicemember with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard has certain civil right to protect their homes. These rights allow the service man or woman to have their mortgage payments suspended or postponed to allow them to focus on their duty and to relieve the family members who are left behind from the burden and stress of a house payment. The Act further prohibits Servicemembers from having their primary residence foreclosed upon while they are on active duty or within a year of being discharged.
While the law may be in effect to protect those who are defending our country, not every entity chooses to follow the law. Last year, the Law Offices of Jason W.
